Default Charcoal vapor canister

I need to check the vapor canister on my 2004 Suzuki Forenza S. I found the thing hiding on top of the fuel tank. My question is if there is access to it from the top? It appears that the tank will have to be dropped if not.

1: why do you need to check it?
2: yes, I believe the tank needs to be dropped, which is a pain.

I've been getting a P0455 error code, but it is occasionally. I have checked every thing that I can and even replaced some items. New gas cap, new purge valve, and checked the purge solenoid and all lines that I can get to. I have to get a smog test soon and need to get it straightened out. Can't afford a lot of garage bills.

have you actually smoke tested the system? or just shotgunned parts at it hoping for a fix?
quite often its nothing more than a split in a hose hose somewhere in the system. it is very rare the canister itself is the issue unless its damaged.

I stopped "shotgunning" parts, and ran smoke test at both ends twice, could not find even a small leak. So far the purge valve is operational, tested on car and bench tested, and so has the vent valve. After some research, I found that a possible problem could be defective fuel pressure sensor or sending unit. I did notice when the vent valve closes, and the purge valve opens, there is a tapping noise coming from the fuel tank. Thanks in advance for any input
