Question 2008 Suzuki Forenza Engine Noise

I was driving down the road the other day and my 08 Forenza seemed to have lost power and started making a very loud noise under the hood. I pulled off of the road into a bank and began looking at the situation.

I started it up and recorded a video to show the noise it's making to see if anyone had any ideas.

Link to video:

After recording the video, it makes me think that it almost sounds like a diesel engine or something. None of the spark plugs appeared to be smashed on the ends, but one of them (the far right if standing and facing the front of the car head-on) had oil all over it.

I will say, for the month or so leading up to this, randomly the car would start up and have a louder noise than usual. It wasn't a knocking or anything like this, but it was just "louder" noise-level. It would go away and not come back for any specific reason that I can find. You could just hear the engine revving louder than normal.

Any tips or suggestions are welcome. I went out and purchased a second vehicle so I will have time to tinker with this one and maybe learn some things in the process.

Thank you!

Post a pic of the offending plug, then follow with a compression test.

Thank you for the quick response. I am researching how to do a compression test and what I will have to purchase to do that. I'll update this thread once I have that portion taken care of.

Thanks again for the next steps!

In Canada, CTC..

What is your observed oil level and oil appearance?

Oil change periodicity?

Coolant level checks as well?

Any under-hood or tailpipe emitting SMOKE?

Sounds (lifter) oil starved to me.
