Default 2 Recalls; One major one not

When I took my car in today for maintance I found out there where two recalls for my car (2005 Reno). One was a water pump inspection which lead to the infamous belt being fix, and the other was replacing some wire for the head lights as I guess it burns out. I knew the belt for the water pump was a killer for a car as if that goes our engine goes. But from what I have read it should have lasted me to 60k milies and I am little over half way.

The problem was the belt was to close the pump. I had ours done at 10k. They did the belt and water pump and then had to order a tensioner as the one on the car fell apart in the mechanics hands.

The wire problem is a chaffing issue where its routed thru the left fender, the wire grounds against the fender.

The water pump one is correct, the belt rubs to the inside of the pulley and breaks the pulley, which in turn shreds the belt and bends the valves. With a redesigned water pump you should inspect the belt at 30K replace at 60K

The Wire issue for the headlights is not caused by the wire rubbing on the inner fender. its a junction plug behind the gauge cluster that burns up. Simple fix, cut 3 wires, connect them together and heatshrink them and your good to go.
