Default 08 Forenza Downshifts Hard into 1st

I have reviewed the transmission threads and have not seen this issue I am experiencing. The automatic transmission range finder/sensor was replaced about 2 years ago and the car was shifting fine until recently. The transmission went into limp mode recently and it pulled a code, which I don't recall, for a solenoid. The mechanic reset the code, and it has not come back. However, now when coming to a stop at a light or stop sign, the transmission shifts pretty hard, noticeably so, into first gear, and also the idle does seem a slight bit low(not sure if this is related but noticed it as well) Checking to see if anyone else has experienced this. The car has less than 50K and I maintain it properly, any ideas?? Thanks to everyone for your input and help, these forums are great!!
