Default 05' Reno head gasket repair. Worth it?

Hey there forum users,

Just looking for some opinions. I have a 2005 Reno with 100,000 miles on it. I purchased it used with 9k miles on it about 7-8 years ago. I have had no major issues with it until now. A check engine light started coming on. The light came on infrequently at first, and eventually stayed on all of the time... I noticed my coolant was disappearing but not leaking. At this point I had it checked and was told the head gasket needed to be replaced. I'm wondering if it's worth fixing, or should I look at getting a new car?
I tried to take good care of it in those 90k miles of use. However, I was not always on time with oil changes... Sometimes letting it go 6k miles before changing it. (Only a few times)
I did replace the serpentine belt around 85k miles.
The engine itself seemed to be in good shape before I got it inspected and was told it needed a head gasket repair. Although I had been noticing some oil leakage/seepage. Many of the engine components under the hood seem to have oil on them. Another problem is that I've been letting it sit around for the last 7 months while I decide what to do with it. What other problems might I have after letting it sit unused for so long? (Besides a dead battery)

certainly worth pulling the head and looking at the gasket, its still young in terms of total miles. They are relatively easy to do, just take your time.

I'd just give it an oil and filter change, run it for 500 miles then do it again, that will at least flush any condensation and rubbish out of it that it may have accumulated sitting for so long.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think it's Still worth repairing if I'm paying a mechanic to do the work? I know it's not a super hard job (unless I have to send the head out to be machined), but I don't really have the time or the tools.

whether its worth it or not is ultimately up to you. if taken car of you should be able to get a good long life out of the car. just make sure you change the timing belt on time and perform your tune ups and oil changes.
