07 Forenza low power, code P2110

My friend has an 07 Forenza. Its throwing code P2110 (throttle acuator control - forced limited engine speed), and no others. He said this morning on his way to work, it would only go about 10 miles an hour and had no power. When I test drove it this afternoon, it had pleanty of power, but the CEL was still on, and it did hesitate once. I backed off the throttle some and hit it again, and it was happy. I've searched this code some, but everything I read says its a sympthom of other codes. The local mechanic told him to replace the whole throttle body. I've looked around, and that looks expensive, and I'm having trouble finding them new. Two questions: First, is there any usual cause for this code by itself (I'm use to working on Fords, so I don't know Suzuki's)? Second, any idea why the power loss is intermetient if its supposedly limiting the engine speed (I'm assuming that's why he lost power)? Third, if I do need to get a new throttle body, where's a good place to get one? Thanks in advance.

sounds like a sticking throttle body / actuator. You can try taking it off and cleaning it, doesn't take much stuff to make them bind up and throw a code. Someone more familiar with the Forenza will either confirm or deny my thoughts.

I have the same problem with my 07 Suzuki Reno, but also a p2106. I have replaced the throttle body assembly, accelerator pedal position sensor, map sensor, camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, both 02 sensors, catalytic converter, and I am still getting p2106 & p2110. The shop that I took to last told me that it was the map sensor & throttle body so they were brand new on the car when the tech diagnosed it. I checked them both and got all good reading from testing them grnd, sig,5v. To replaced the map sensor & throttle body & labor their was going to be like $1500. So could a brand new map sensor & throttlebody both be bad and how did it test good when I tested them?

To diagnose properly you must use a scope and connect to the ECU via back probes on connector..

Unfortunately throwing parts at it based on codes results in excessive costs and mostly failure..

Well if I had a scope I could test it that way but I was going on what the scanner said. Also the shop diagnosed it. But Thank You for your reply. I will go to another site to see if I can get someone to help me it doesn't seem like anyone one this site ever wants to really help out. I won't be asking no more questions

Both codes are synonymous with a wiring or bad connection to the throttle body / position indicator 90% of the time its an intermittent break in the wiring just out from the plug to the throttle body caused by the loom flexing.

P2106 is throttle power limited due to major fault detected in actuator
P2110 is another limiting code set when an issue is detected in the throttle body assembly
One instance of an intermittent connection will seteither of the codes.

Scope with engine running, wiggle the wiring.

Go find a diagnostician not a parts changer with a code reader.
