Hi,
Ive been looking online and for help but cant seem to get a straight answer. I have like 7 0f my 16 tappets (valve lash adjusters) that after bleeding and cleaning do not spring up. I am pretty sure those are toast the other 11 spring and pump up but feel a little squishy after several pumps in clean oil. like 15-20 pumps. are these toast as well or is there supposed to be some play to these adjusters. Also do the plungers in this type tappet come out of the bucket?

hi. there is a special way you can clean the lifters. it involves basically taking the entire thing apart. from your post it doesnt sound like youve done the whole job as it involves taking out the center then banging the lifter on something semi soft (wood is good) to remove the center. then putting in a cleaning solution. i have the procedure somewhere i can look for it if youd like. sounds like a few of your went flat and are no good. as for the others being bad or not, im not really sure but if your replacing some you should probably replace the whole lot. if not youll have some new and some that are probably tired and youll risk of having to do the job again to replace the older ones. any other questions just ask!
