hi. the brake light switch is up under the dash by the brake pedal theres a little button the pedal arm presses on thats button is connected to the switch. im pretty sure it wouldnt cause an engine light though. when the brake light switch goes your brake lights will stay on constantly even after you turn the car off and get out. if you have an engine code have it read again and find out exactly what the code is and means. heres a link to an online service manual it has wiring diagrams in it
Daewoo Service Manual

let us know what you find out

Mechanic says the switch can cause the engine light to come on. Not certain the switch is the problem, for it is an intermitant problem. Thus told him to not to bother. If I let the car warm up it stays off for now. Problem with this is when it comes on I don't know if it is the same problem or another. As a result last week I damaged the water pump. Thus still trying to find the cause.
The codes I get are:
P0703-Brake Switch
P0705-Range Sensor (which has been replaced last year)
P1779-Enging to Input Signal.

ive had to replace mine twice already and got no engine code just tail lights that stay on after the car is turned off.
ok i had to do a little checking around just to be sure of what i was thinking your problem might be. heres what i found out the news isnt great, sorry. P1779 seems to indicate a problem with the ecm. which could be backed up by P0703 which can indicate that the car noted acceleration and deceleration without the brakes being applied. P0705 has to do with the TRS. it could just be exactly that or it could be a problem with the car reading its signal. so theres a chance you have an ECM thats going bad. now, the TRS could simply be out of alignment and need to be adjusted, the brake switch might just be going bad and need to be replaced and the ecm might just have a loose connection. these things are going to need to be checked by a competent mechanic or even better a dealer. they might be better at diagnosing a emc problem. you can have your mechanic check out the break switch see if its all functioning normally and you could always try to adjust the TRS and see if that works too. anything else just ask! let us know what happens
