Hi,

I tried calling Suzuki Shaw PH to ask if I can bring in my Kei truck F6 to their shop for standard service ( Change oil, tune up, tappet adjust, etc ) and I was informed that they do not accept these models. How great is that???

Anyway thanks Psyfron for the manual.

I wanted to service my truck myself, would anyone have part numbers of the following?

- Oil filter
- Air filter

And any idea where I can source out a brand new or after market high tension cables?

Thanks,

Kamote

I'll take a bet with you - your truck is a grey market import - right or wrong?

The onus is on you, before buying a vehicle to ensure that after purchase support will be available, which is something you didn't do before purchase, and the reason I know this is because you're complaining about it after the purchase.

If you had checked - this is what you would have found out - service documentation for used JDM vehicles is almost impossible to locate, and when available it is in Japanese. By service documentation I mean service manuals which document the procedures and specifications, and also part catalogs - even the dealer diagnostic tools, don't work on the JDM cars.

Suzuki just does not make this information available outside of Japan.

Put your self in the dealer's shoes - and let's give them the benefit of the doubt, they would like to help you, but you're bringing in a vehicle for service, which outwardly resembles the ones they are selling, but when they open the hood, it's different.

Do they have the oil filters in stock - maybe/maybe not - and oil filters are a part that should not be fitted based on appearance, just like the car, the outside looks the same, but the inside may be different. Do they have the air filters in stock - maybe/maybe not - I've seen air filters that look alike (even bought them) only to find they're an eighth of an inch too thin and don't seal, do they have spark plugs in stock - what plug does your engine take again?

Don't blame the dealer - you didn't buy the car from them - why aren't you taking the car back to the person you bought it from?

Like you, I own a used JDM car, not a Suzuki in this case, but the story is the same regardless of manufacturer - if you weren't aware of it before, you are now - buying used JDM is cheaper, but has it's problems, and even if the dealer wants to help you, he may be unable to, because of a lack of necessary resources & information.

And no, I don't know where you can source the parts from or even what part numbers you need, but if your vehicle was not JDM, I'd be able to look it up, just like your dealer would.

Greetings! Do not panic! There are 1000's of air filters and oil filteres here in Cebu.
Where do you live?
The service manual by Danco is a rebuild list and not much else. Search this forum.
Oil is 10W30 to 10W50. Use plain oil, not synthetic. Change at 10000 km.
air filter can be bumped a few times, and most dust will come out. good for a few more KM till you can find one where you live. The oil filter is common, go to the auto parts store, and point to your truck and tell them you need a filter.
Is your truck the only Suzuki around where you live? If so, fill the tank, and drive to a normal part of the Philippines, when you see other truck like yours, stop at a parts store.
These f6 motor trucks are reassembled from scrap from Japan.
The ST 90 looks just like it, but is 4 cylinder, and Suzuki exported it and will support it.
Again, you must say where you live on this and most every other forum in order to get a response as the forum is world wide in it's members.
Good luck.

Guys,

Thanks for the feedback and yes my unit is JDM and aware that service centers don't really take in these units for servicing. I can do the servicing myself but to lazy to do so, in line with this, there are reputable mechanics within my area. The only reason why I tried is to at least bring this mini back to spec.

I'm not blaming the dealer and I understand their predicament and I respect that.

Anyways, just to give you a background how autoshops work here in my country , they will usually ask you to bring the actual part for reference so they can search their stock. I don't want to do that because I will be doing my servicing outside the city so I need the part before I take out the old one out.

I knew what I was getting into so thanks for your inputs.

Sir Newsavedone is right.... oil filters, fuel filters, air filters, drive belts, radiator hoses, brake parts, suspension arms, bearings, cables, tie rods, etc., even fuel pump replacements are readily available.... and the works could be DIY....

Multicab assemblers/dealers. auto supplies here in Marikina (Nangka and Concepcion), Commonwealth and Fairview in QC, etc, have said parts, notwithstanding surplus parts for Suzuki, which are also available .... if budget is not a problem, better buy including spares in order that there is a ready item in case of urgent need...

Better save the original replaced item rather than having it thrown away, as it will be the reference sample for buying replacements....

thanks

got my parts earlier today from a local shop around Mandaluyong and I agree parts are readily available I just don't like replacements and want the "correct" parts installed.

Newsavedone - I have no issues giving out my location. I was born in Cebu and grew up here in
Mandaluyong.

Redhawk - Thanks, i doubt if the parts still installed are originals but I will keep them until I get all part numbers recorded so I can share the information as well.

Cheers!
