Default crack and rust in the chassis

Happy new year to all
I have been reading the posts for several hours now and they are very informative.
my concern is the carry that we purchased a few months back has a crack in the chassis and a hole caused by rusting, the body is ok bit rust beneath is a real problem, any suggestion as to how the should be repaired? it is located behind where the battery sits, the hole due to rust is located on the other side.
many thanks

There is very little that we can suggest without actually seeing what you're talking about.

Find a good welder and have him take a look and advise accordingly - cracks in the chassis can be fixed and the area strengthened by welding reinforcement plates over the area - rust or corrosion in the vicinity of the battery may have been caused by spilled electrolyte, that will need to be thoroughly cleaned, any remaining electrolyte neutralized (a baking soda in water solution can be used) and the corroded metal cut out and replaced.
