Default Engine swap? alternative engine?

So my F6A is crapped out. Rings are gone, not enough compression to crank anymore. Because parts are way overpriced and nearly have to order them from overseas. Has anyone put a different engine in it? i was thinking a Subaru boxer engine would fit nicely. Or maybe even an old air cooled VW engine. I've seen some people have put Honda 4cyl engines, and Hayabusa engines, and Chevy v8 engines in them. But looks like they have to take up most of the bed to fit it. I still want to be able to use mine as a truck.

I think that you will find out that putting another engine into a Carry to replace the F6 would be a lot more expensive than fixing the one you have.

If you want to replace the engine, I would start with a look at the "F" family of Suzuki engines in the Wikipedia. Nearly all of the Suzuki engine families (with the exception of the "G" engines - and they are very close!) are direct-swaps. Find an F6 - or larger -engine and do some research on parts or complete engine availability. You may be pleasantly surprised with what you find.

BTW, where are you located? You might find some help with this locally on this forum!

I hope that this helps!

I'm in Panama City, Florida. I found online newer Carry trucks with 4cyl engines and factory turbos. I wonder how hard or expensive it would be to upgrade to that. Or atleast upgrade to a fuel injected model would be awesome.

I've been searching for an F6A engine. Best I find is $2700 for a reman from Japan. $1250 for a used one from the Philippines. Or A full rebuild kit for $800. Just seems high. I done a full rebuild to a Geo Tracker this year and it didn't cost but $500 including machine work. I done a head gasket on a Toyota Cressida for $100 including machine work. Just seems so high for such a tiny little engine.

I was thinking about other engine options to add more power as well. But thinking about it, it wouldn't go any faster, just have more power, but would be limited by the gearing even with a new engine. Because the F6A turns around 5k+ RPMS to go 50+mph. I think, I have no tach, just guessing. So If I change to a Honda VTEC per say, I'd have to do the same 5k RPM to go 50mph. I could just get there much faster. But my cruising at very high RPMs the engine isn't designed to do, and get horrible gas mileage and wear it out fast. And I don't even know if changing the gearing is much of an option.

I'm almost getting forced into an F6A rebuild/replace.

While I'm here... Anyone have a good starter for the F6A engine they want to sell? If so shoot me a message with price. Thanks.
