Default My rear washer - an epic journey.

My 1999 Alto has 3900miles on the clock which means that it has spent years in a garage doing nothin'. As a result, the only fault with the car I couldn't fix was the rear washer - it was blocked. Applying 30-50psi of pressure down the pipe from the engine bay and back from the jet did nothing.
After I'd learned how to remove the tailgate trim (very clever clips) I accessed the pipes and found that there is a one-way valve fitted near the jet - and it was siezed up. I cleared this with hot water and soap and air but the pipe was full of black slimy algae gunk. By forcing hot soapy water in either end under high pressure, and probing with a steel wire it eventually gave up and out came the cr*p - lots of it. I ran loads of hot soapy water through and re-assembled everything - it now works and gave me a disproportionate sense of victory.
I'd assumed that there was some fatal kink in the tube and that I'd never fix it but all of the bent sections of the tube are reinforced with internal springs - don't overthink it is the lesson here. Some men split the atom and others clear pipes - both equally satisfying.

well done. Glad you found the problem and fixed it, now you can enjoy a nice clear view of all the muppets behind you.
