Question tick over

I have a problem with tickover its really fast 2000 rpm . i have tried another throttle body and cant see any air leaks . i have blocked the air hole in the throttle body that controlls the tick over so now its better but i have to rev it for a few minutes first otherwisew it cuts out.
any ideas please

Ugh...what is a "tick over"?

Year and engine size / type, mileage may help too.

Engine in tune? (plugs, filters, oil changes etc?)

tick over = idle

You need to specify the model and engine type.
