Devon alto is on a distinguished road
Default 1st road trip

After three weeks as an Alto owner I've just completed a 650 mile road trip in three days and it all went very well. I'm still running in the car and so I wanted to get some miles on the clock with a mixture of driving on different roads. We set off on Saturday morning and left Devon heading for Reading. The first 50 miles were on A roads with average speeds of around 45/50 mph. The weather was awful with very heavy rain but the car felt very comfortable on the wet roads. Next was the M5 motorway with higher speeds but this was no problem for the Alto and it held its own with the other vehicles . Cruising at 70/75 is no problem and the engine doesn't feel stressed at all. Following the M4 to Reading we arrived feeling relaxed and pleased that a car with such a small engine can be so capable at motorway speeds. Sunday morning we set off for Lincoln and made good time due to better weather. This morning we left Lincoln and headed for home, a journey of 350 miles completed in 6 hours including two stops. Overall , I'm very impressed with the car , it feels light and nippy in city traffic but is able to cruise on the motorway too. We had plenty of space for our luggage and camping gear and we are looking forward to the next trip. With 1500 miles on the clock the car is now booked into the dealership for its inspection service at 2000 miles. So far, all smiles and no problems.
