Smile Samurai Weber 32/36 MPG

Hi, fitted weber carb 32/36 ( standard jets) to my 1988 Samurai 120.000 miles, now runs great but unable to get more than 22 mpg, would a fuel pressure regulator help. (St George, UT Elevation 2850ft )
Grateful for any suggestions
Nigel

I've have just had fitted a new Weber Carburetor to my '88 Samurai,
I will check the mpg when this fill gas fill up goes lower.
What is the tickover/idle when your Samurai is fuller warmed up please?
The Samurai runs really nice also with the Weber, although my Idle
is 1300+.No chance of it stalling though,lol.................

Hi found we needed a fuel regulator, set ours to 2 PSI, idle can adjust down to 600 rpm, set at about 820 to 850, found both idle jets to big changed to 47/50,
still needs further tuneing, getting about 24 mpg.
hope this helps
