Default crankshaft sensor-help

I'm wondering if someone else may have had this problem and could help....I have a 1996 Suzuki Sidekick Sport JLX model. The car was cutting out on me a few weeks ago and had to have the cam sensor replaced (600$). 2 days after I get it back the check engine light comes on again and they tell me it's the crankshaft sensor. The car is driving fine and to replace the crankshaft sensor will also be around 600$. Apparently this is mostly labor because the sensor is difficult to get to (I think they said the transmission would have to be removed). have any of you had this sensor code come up before and what happens if I just keep driving it or are there any other alternatives I could try??
