Historic Suzuki: The Cara
The Suzuki Cara was a rebadged Mazda Autozam AZ-1 that was sold in the early 1990's. Yes, the AZ-1 of Gran Turismo gaming fame, one of the first sporty cars you could afford in the Playstation video game.
It was a mid-engined sports Kei car with gull-wing doors (even Kei cars can be "sports cars" with the right setup). It had a 657 cc turbocharged 3-cylinder engine and a curb weight of only 1584 lbs. The only difference of note between the Mazda and its Suzuki twin was the addition of fog lamps to the Cara.
Only around 400 Caras were built between 1992–94.
On a fun note, I found this DIE CAST of a Mazda Autozam AZ-1 on E-bay (that happens to be the same color of blue as the real thing in the photo below) with "opening gullwing doors"! You could rebadge it if you could find another die cast Suzuki somewhere or craft a tiny little "S" logo to fit...but that's only for the hard-core Suzukiphile to pursue: Mazda Autozam AZ-1 Keicar 1992 Blue Ebbro 1:43 #43780 on eBay Cars, Trucks-Diecast, Diecast Cars Trucks, Toys Hobbies
