Default Questions???

Okay. I'm a newbie to this forum as I just registered a couple of minutes ago, so I don't know where to post this topic. So correct me if I put it in the wrong location.

Alrighty now. I have an 02 "Chevy" Tracker with the H25A v6 in it and I was wondering if it was safe to eventually add a turbo to it without modifying the engine itself. I went on to another forum and asked. The fella who spoke to me said it was safe because someone else put a supercharger on a 4 cylinder model. I'd just like to make sure this is correct.

Also, I was pondering on custom headers, but every time I look under the hood it looks like it's fairly cramped in there. But I can't get a good look on how the manifolds are setup with the heat shields still on. I was pondering maybe a block hugger style if possible. Because I'd really like to do duel exhaust on it since no one has done so yet.

Or at least not that I have seen.

Any and all info would be a big help. I'd like to ask more experienced people first before accidentally do anything wrong and end up without a vehicle. Just being smart ahead of time.

Thanks in advance.

welcome. That answer would depend on what boost levels you are going to run. keeping the levels down around a few pounds will not hurt the motor. Cranking it to at least 10 lbs you may do damage if left stock

To XL7Limited: I don't want to go incredibly insane with it since the motor itself isn't really design for it. I'd say about an extra 60-70HP IF possible. I'd like to go around the 100 mark. But it's more than likely a region that might harm the motor.

As for location of the turbo I've found universal kits where the turbo mounts under the vehicle instead of the hood. I've also seen the kit on an older episode of TRUCKS! back when the original host was still on the show. So I could probably do the same with any turbo as far I know.

I'd like to do an air intake as well. But I noticed how the front portion of the intake manifold blocks any routing of the tubing. And that was another thing I wanted to know. I noticed how the front portion is bolted on. Could I take a good length of tubing with an equal diameter or a hair bigger, bent it up to the height of the support strut?

Mind you these are future ideas I'd like to do. So they won't happen for quite a while.

I also found a Bully Dog Pup tuner for it as well. But it's meant only for the v6 models. Makes it so you can safely add some extra hp and recalibrate the speedo for a new tire size.

Thanks in advance.
