Gas Tank Does not Fill

I have been having the same issue on my 2008 Forenza. The check engine light has been on for around six months. Went to get that checked which came back to an emission issue and the mechanic did a smoke test. After the smoke test came back with no leaks, this gas pump issue occurred. The pump stops every $1-$2 of gas which is just annoying. Now this seems to be an almost unknown issue. Meanwhile I forgot to mention my car only has under 17,000 miles on it! I need some new information to bring back to my mechanic, so any help is appreciated.

I haven't had any problems with the gas cap...its kinda of different but its like that with my moms BMW as well. Also I'd double check with someone that knows for sure if you can just replace the gas cap cuz you can't just do that with the coolant cap as it uses something that I dont even remember the name of.

Intruder I'll report that my tank reads F for at least 50 miles after I fill it up. The drop towards E starts real slow and gets exponentially greater, then slows down again just before E.

Also, I really HATE the gas caps. You think you've screwed it on all the way and then you tug on it and it comes right off. Other times it apparently jars its way loose, then the car begins to act sluggish until I stop get out and tighten it again. What happened to the old caps that just screwed on a series of threads until it was tight as a drum??

Repteel it possable that your e-vap vent valve solinide could be stuck close and not letting air out of your tank, also maybe there is a check valve at the base of the filler neck to stop people from stealing gas that could be stuck too, just my guess

I know what your talking about...and I remember hearing about it before but am unsure if it was about our car. Have you been in any kind of accident or anything?

capriconus05 No actually theres nothing wrong with the needle its just when we pump gas its like theres no air getting into the gas tank or something and its shuts off like its full...and you have to keep pumping it until you know its full its strange

fici Are you saying that your needle reads full when it is not? I should still be under warrenty (B to , I would have it checked.
