Baratacus the newer refrigerant has to be run at a higher pressure level on the low pressure side than the older refrigerant. Some times when the conversion is done by someone who doesn't work with AC regularly, the mechanic may not be aware that with the newer gas you need to completly purge the unit and then draw a vacuum on the line so that there is NO air in it at all. With the higher pressure levels any air in the unit will have moisture that will destroy the compressor over a short period of time.

If you had it converted by a certified HVAC technician then that's probably not the problem.

bcarter5 I Just Put The Ac Back On My 1988 Is Blowing 38 Degrees After Running For A Little While. You Need To Put A Thermometer In One Of The Center Vents To Get A Good Reading. Make Sure The Suction Line Is Sweating Also This Will Tell You If The Charge Is Close.hope This Helps

AC - how cool ?

I am running a 1.6 16v out of a 1998 X90 in my 1987 Samurai. The ac system was converted over to R134 at the time of engine swap over a year ago.

I turned the ac on the other day to try it and it doesn't feel very cool.

How cool should this thing run at the vents ??

Thanks !
