Question What are the best non-hid replacement halogen headlight bulbs for our vehicles?

I am looking to buy new halogen headlights for my Vitara, what is everyone else using?

Sylvania SilverStar or SilverStar Ultra - I have the SilverStars in one Suzuki, almost four years now, and the Ultras in another, been there about two years, and I'll probably pick up a second set of the Ultras for my latest ride before the end of the year.

I'd be most surprised if they aren't available in the USA.

Besides, it's a small world these days with the internet.

Arrow

I use solux upgrade halogens. They are not obnoxiously blinding white/blue but they are the color of natural daylight which I like. Much brighter - a big improvement from the standard headlights. The lines on the road seem to "pop" better. Also, they plug right in without a kit...which is nice.

Given the fact that the Grand Vitara is known for excessive replacement I wouldn't waste too much money on expensive replacements. Post here all the time regarding 2-3 sets of bulbs a year. Suzuki engineering nightmare.

That's interesting - I've owned Suzukis for going on 15 years (been driving them for close to 30) and we had quite a few in the family and with very few complaints, certainly no such experience with the headlights - the SilverStar Ultras in my GV have been there, a little over two years now, that's six times longer than you suggest they should last.

Also - the GV headlight wiring is not significantly different to that of any of the other Suzukis I've had and some of those have the factory bulbs in them for the entire time I had them - so I have no idea what engineering nightmare you're referring to - it is different to the average US domestic car, ans some folks have difficulty understanding it, but it is pretty much similar to the other Japanese cars I've looked at.
