Default Suzuki Marketing, is there in good?

Considering that most of the Suzuki cars are good quality cars, i must admit that their marketing is not of something one can be proud of. I do not know which niches or segments of the market they are trying to reach, but i know that Suzuki is slowly becoming an old person car (at least here in Denmark). I think it is sad, as here in Denmark the Suzuki commercials have become part of comedy series (literally meant). I have read some reports in Nikkei magazine, couple of years back ( I think it was in late 2005) and they suggest that for instance Swift model is to overlap the “new” mini Morris and its meant to sell to the people who can not afford an mini Morris. I really do not understand the resemblance, I think Swift is unique! and it can not be substitution for Morris! How can an old (morris) looking car be a resemblance to a new futuristic (swift) car (or for that matter is there any car today that does not look like the other). The advertising on the Suzuki website (about swift, promotion film) says it shall be “cool but not too cool” then somehow it jumps to Italy and tells about a guy who has been brought up there. Come on guys ! give me a break! Since when Italy decided on having racing DNA, and the thing about it should be “cool but not to cool”, racetracks, old people in Czech republic (I do not exactly remember which country, but who does that nowadays) etc. ; do u want to sell cars or personal complexes? Me as a young person, I really think that Suzuki has wonderful cars but I would not buy one, because they are not making me buy one. They should seriously consider marketing or promotion change……!

anyone ?

P.S Sorry for the title, I meant to write “is there any good”

agreed, over in the US it's pretty bad. suzuki won't even import any of the cool cars they build because "there isn't a market for it " oh, ok, then why are there so many evos, wrx stis, mazdapeed cars, srt4s, etc all over the place?

Thank u for ur reply jm88stang,

I dont really know how the things are in US, i actually thought that they did pretty well with the Vitara. But then again if that is the case, i can not understand, for instance, what is Honda, Toyota, Hyundai doing there? as far as i remember these car manufactures do have all sorts of models in US. from the very small to very big (size) cars. I personally dont buy that there is no market to sell. What i know is that car manufactures sometime make a market. But if Suzuki is going to follow the same marketing strategy as they do it here in Denmark, there wont be any market (maybe for the old people yes).
I think (sorry for writing so much about marketing) Suzuki had stayed enough under the shadow of different car manufactures. At least here in Europe people know Suzuki, they have been here for more than 10-15 years (or more), and I really think that they should be more confident about their products as their marketing does not show that (I think).

Again thank you for sharing ur views

cheers
