Make sure your dimmer switch, to the left of your steering wheel, is all the way up. That happened to me once as well.

I'd have to agree with LP then, if you’ve checked everything and nothing seems to be out of place, then the bulb inside the unit is burning out and unfortunately, you can't replace it like a headlight bulb. Your only other option, aside from maybe getting it refurbished, is to get a new head unit. Maybe the radio is under Suzuki's warranty?!

yeah if its not underwarranty the dealer is going to rape you in charges for another oem radio so its cheaper to go the aftermarket way

These radios do fail on a fairly regular basis; the backlight (like yours), the CD loading motors, control buttons and knobs, etc.

Agreed, if you're not under the comprehensive warranty you'll be much better off getting an aftermarket head unit. A refurbished factory stereo is in the range of $600, and that'll just be another factory unit, with all its flaws. Either have a shop install one or do it yourself with an adapter kit...just be very aware of what you're doing when pulling off the surround plate, it's very easy to break the HVAC controls if not properly disconnected.

If you ARE under 3 years/36,000 miles then I would have it replaced before you go outside that warranty...that's what it's there for. Some dealers are really good about doing their job to honor the manufacturer's warranty, others will say "oh, the backlight isn't a big deal". Broken is broken, and it's their job to make it not broken...right?
