Default Junkyard Find. Tracker CD/Cassette player

Not being an audiophile-type, I didn't need a bangin' system in my little Tracker.
It came with the standard AM/FM stereo and I wanted to at least play some of my CDs..... but wanted a simple plug and play.... and cheap.

Checked the local junkyard and they found a 4-door Tracker LSi that had the factory CD/Cassette player still in it. It was in pretty bad shape as the windshield was out of the wrecked 4-door Tracker.
Plenty of dirty..... and the volume knob is dry-rotted and kinda loose... may try to swap mine onto it.

Well, I chanced it.
$40 with a guarantee to be able to return it if it didn't work.

Once I plugged it in, the face lit up but it took a second or two before anything happened.. audio-wise. It sounded like Kid Rock was on the radio, but the channel was not a local channel...... hmmmmmm
Wow, it was the CD player!

I hit eject, expecting the CD to be stuck in there or something..... this is what I found. It flipped me off!!!!

Sadly, the cassette player doesn't work... I actually found a couple tapes down in the basement But I'll keep it just for the CD player use.

Everything else works as it should. The preset button for #1 needs an extra push or two to get it to work.... but all in all.... not bad for $40.... and a free CD. LOL....
Now, I can play a few CDs. Now, if I could only find someone to do an "aux-in" to this puppy and I can use my phone music (currently using a FM transmitter for that).

Oh.... I forgot to mention. When I bought the Tracker a few weeks ago, it had two blown speakers. One rattled and the other wouldn't play at all.

So I run down to the local Wal-mart and pick up a couple $20 4" front speakers and a couple 5.25" round ones for the back... I think $30.
The front left required some wire splicing, as a previous owner had cut the leads too short. What a pain that was.

The front portion of the speaker mount in the dash was trimmed away.... as there aren't any holes for the front of the speaker to bolt to. So it's just lying on some stryrofoam plate pieces to keep it from vibrating too much. There's no room to work on these things.

Since I have the rear panels off (to put the 5.25s in the rear), I'm noticing there's a nice hole back there for some 6x9s.... hmmmmm...... ?
