Default Gearbox / Clutch noise

Hi

I'm having some problems with my wifes 2005 1.3 Swift. The last few weeks there has been some strange noise when driving and it sounds like it gearbox or clutch related. It has just done 27K so I have changed the manual transmission fluid but still very noisy.

It sounds like an electric motor from inside the car that increases with the revs and 1st gear is the loudest, 2nd is noisy, still there with 3rd and 4th is fairly quiet although if you accelerate you can start to hear the noise slightly and 5th is similar to 4th gear. If you press the clutch pedal down while idling or even when driving the noise disappears.

Has anyone had these kind of issues with there Swifts.

Thanks

Hi,

I am having a similar (if not the same) problem with my 2005 1.3 Swift. I would describe it as a scraping sound, like metal scraping on the ground, first it only happened as I was pulling away from somewhere, but earlier today when I got out of my car while the engine was still running it was happening! (I only noticed in the first place because the radio wasn't on!)

I find that if I lift my foot a little way off the accelerator it stops.

I'm a bit worried as it seems to be getting worse and I've only had the car since Jan!

I also had trouble getting it on 1st gear when I first got it, but must have found the knack of it now, but did panic on my way back from buying it at the garage when I couldn't get it into gear!!!!

yeah mate sounds like your gearbox has died.
My gearbox just did itself in and it was exactly the same problem. It has this metalic rubing sound only when the gears are engaged right?
You should get it checked out and you may just need to replace some bearings.
It would seem suzuki didn't give the swifts very strong gearboxs
