Default No start on 63 plate Suzuki swift sport

Hey!

Looking for some advice if anyone could help?

I have a 63 plate Swift Sport. I’ve noticed sometimes when it turns over it’s a little slow but no major issues. Then when idling, it’s a little under 1rpm which seemed a bit low.

My windows have been quite slow for a while so I suspected the battery was low/on its way out. I had Halfords do a battery check which came back ‘good’. I’ve gone to start it this morning and it’s not turned over. It’s trying, but no luck. I did manage to get it running but now it won’t start again.

The wipers are running a lot slower than usual when tested and the interior lit completely dims when on and trying to start it. Does it sound like a battery to you?

I’ve been to get a new one just in case so waiting to have it fitted but I can’t seem to find a radio Code in my manual/paperwork that came with the car?

Any ideas would be appreciated! 🙂

800rpm or thereabouts is quite normal for tick over. I also suspect the battery is giving up. It may be worth just putting a voltmeter on the battery when it's running just to confirm it is actually charging.

Thanks Darrell! Appreciate your reply.

We’ve changed the battery and it’s started first time so touch wood, that’s the only issue! 🙂

Thanks!

Do a charging check, should be about 13.8-14.5 volts at the battery terminals at 2500 rpm or higher. That will at least confirm the charging system. Expect 12.5 ish when stopped if the battery is in good condition. Will drop towards 12 overnight.

and for those of us not in pommieland, what year is a "63" plate?, we all tend to use year of manufacture as thats a lot simpler to understand.
