2006 Grand Vitara stereo code

Hi, as I recently post that my emission control light still on my dash box. I read from the website that I could just unplug the negative from the battery will reset the code but do my stereo will ask for a security code when I plug it back on. Should I proceed witht his option or wait for a few more days and if still on, just go to the dealer. Thanks
