Hi all, just aquired a '05 GV2000. After a day or so I noticed that the horn didnīt work. A quick look showed that the leads had been pulled off both horns, so they were promptly replaced - a fine working horn!
Unfortunately, the day after I heard a very loud blast outside the house and the reason the leads had been removed was patently obvious. Removing one lead silenced them for a day, then a lead to the other horn had to be removed on the next unprovoked blast.
The question is, has this happened to anyone else, and is it the relay which is to blame, or as I feel less likely, the horns themselves shorting out, or worse case, a fault somewhere else?
Hoping this is not the only case around....
To continue with the horn, I replaced the relay today and enjoyed a couple of hours of silence (except when pressing the button), and was just congratulating myself on an easy fix when, yes, you´ve guessed, a blast shattered the peace. More thought needed, perhaps a trip back to the dealer who sold me the vehicle.
Intermittent electrical faults are no one´s favourite.
Otherwise most pleasing wheels.
Do you have an installed alarm system? OEM US Zuki's (at a minimum) use the horn as an alert device. If so, the shock sensor could be adjusted too lightly, thus false triggering the system to go off. OR the alarm is malfunctioning, period.

´Fraid not, no alarm, only the standard imobiliser which I don´t believe is connected to the horns; but if anyone knows better............
Looks like this may be a tough nut to crack, but I hope the three month warranty that I was assured sorted "everything except damage caused by driving" covers this, as in fact it looks like the fault was there when I bought the machine, just not obvious.
Hmmm...do you have remote door lock / unlocking capability using a key fob, if not the whole alarm type function then? If so, does the horn "beep" when pressing the fob? (trying to establish a possible link to the inadvertant horn blowing here).

Possibly the best way to establish if it's got an alarm would be to lock it with the remote and then unlock/ open a door via an open window. Or lock it with you inside (using the remote) and then unlock the door manually and open it. Pulling the bonnet (hood?) through the open window while it's locked etc.
You might have to wait a minute for it to "arm" after using the remote before it will set off the alarm.
Hi all, thanks for suggestions. I collected the GV from the shop today after getting it repaired under a verbal three month warranty from the agency that sold it to me. They had to hook it up to a diagnostic computer, which then showed a fault in the contact ring under the steering wheel, so ring replaced and (touch wood!) horn silent again except when called into action. Surprised the ´puter found such a fault.
Glad I didn´t have to fix it myself - airbags, etc., plenty to mess with.
This is, I hope, the last post on horn tribulations - touch wood.
Three days after last collecting the GV, the silence of the neighbourhood was rent.
I was not at home, but the guy in the next house caught me on my mobile only a ten minute jog away. In the mean time, others had called the police. Not popular as the horns are loud.
Into the shop again.
This time, a more thorough search revealed damaged wires leading into the fuse box by the driver´s left foot, probably caused by a careless kick sometime in the past.
They have now been repaired, and a check showed that the rear loading door courtesy light now works and thus the warning light on the dash if the door is not closed. Glad I didn´t have to sort out the wires, there are a lot of them, and all very thin.
I think only those intimately knowledgeable of the Vitara loom would have connected these two issues. Hope this helps anyone else who kicks indiscriminately to the left and has a horn with a mind of its own.
