Exclamation 06' GV Clear Coat Chipping on wheels

I have about 38000 miles on my 06' Grand Vitara Luxury model and my clear coat on all my wheels is started to chip, I wash it often with no hard chemicals and have never rubbed against the curb or anything like that.

anyone else have this problem, if so does the dealership do anything about it,any type of fix besides refinishing....out of my 36000 mile warranty.

This is really strange. I washed the GV the other day, and on one rim there is a whole bunch of spots where the clearcoat has come off. They do look like small chips, all over the rim. Probably 30-40 of them. It was as though someone had used a pick on it. The damage was completely inconsistent with rubbing a curb or anything else I could imagine.

There have been posts here about peeling clearcoat, and Suzuki replacing the rims. But as you described, this looks more like chipping than "peeling". Although any defect in the clearcoat on the wheels will soon lead to peeling.
