Default Conversion to 12V thermo fan?

Just wondering if anyone has converted from the viscous hub engine cooling fan to an electric thermofan? I'm toying with the ideas of doing it to mine. It should help with the fuel economy (through less engine drag) and liberate a bit of power.

Thanks for the link- my search didn't return much.

I've done a conversion before on my previous 4WD- hence my interest. There are gains to be had even from changing a viscous hub fan.

I've been looking at these items:
fan - http://www.spal-usa.com/fans/automat..._dualpull.html

controller - FAN-PWM

Look on the Jeg's and Summit web sites too.

They have a large selection of electric fans and thermostatic switches. I recently installed both items on my truck.

Cheers, I'm browsing the Summit Racing site now- what a huge range!

We've got nothing like that here in Australia. A few places sell Spal but they charge the earth (it's cheaper to pay freight from the USA.)

So you've converted your Suzuki?

FWIW: Keep in mind that when converting a vehicle from an engine driven fan to an electric fan, not only does the fan need to come on when the thermo switch calls for it....it also needs to be wired to come on ANYTIME the A/C is on. Otherwise, you will not get the required heat transfer at the evaporator thus causing system pressures to rise ultimately leading to an early A/C compressor failure.

If you live around a Mills Fleet farm they sell some of the cheapest fans I've seen. They also have the thermo switch witch comes with a relay and wiring kit. Shouldn't cost more then $100 total.

Given the A/C has it's own electric fan out front I'm not too concerned about that. I'm also looking at a variable speed fan set up - not a simple on/off system.

Doh! *yanks foot outa mouth* I'm not all that familiar with these Zuks yet and wasn't aware the a/c had a dedicated e-fan.
