And this is just ONE more reason I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER do business with the snakes at aamco.
Do yourself a favor and drop it off at the 'Zuk dealer. The worst part about all of this is the dealer can order the complete 3rd member for about $800 (or used to, we replaced many due to improper maint), a pair of axle bearing and about 3 hours of work.
You got it back on MONDAY like this?!? Why did you accept it? Didn't you test drive it? At a minimum I would have returned on TUESDAY to seek AAMCO upper management.
I don't know what else to tell you, other than continue to pursue correction through AAMCO or the DEALER as suggested earlier.
Keep good notes!
Sorry for your hassle.

I feel for you - I'm having the same problem getting the rear axle set up on my Ram. I've been to 2 different shops and it still is not right.
I know that this is not what you want to hear, but you might want to check a few salvage yards and see if you can get your hands on a low mileage used third member and install it yourself or have another shop do it. A used third member with the right ratio should have factory setting and run nice and quiet.
My bet is that they messed up the initial installation and fried the gears. You're right on the money that they are just trying to adjust it out rather than starting over with fresh parts. You can try going to upper management, but I'd bet that you're going to need an attack-lawyer with you before they actually take you seriously.
After all the work done on this vehicle by so-called professional mechanics in their high tech garages couldn't find the problem even after I told them and they knew where the vibration was coming from, I decided to just get under it myself and feel around and jiggle things until I found the halfshaft was bad on the inside knuckle. I bought one at Advanced auto for $79.00 and put it on in my garage and a miracle happened. No More Vibration!!!!!!!!!! Imagine that...
After 2 rears, a drive shaft and rear wheel bearings that were probably still good, and about 4 grand to my warranty company, I fixed it for 79 bucks. I sent that bill in to the warranty company too. Now let's see if they will reimburse me. Now I'm ready for trout season.
Thanks All
Now that all the problems with vibrations are solved I decided to trade my 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara in on a new one. I traded it in on a 2005 XL-7 from a dealer with only 136 miles on it. never owned A-title. Beauuuuuutiful Gunmetal color.
Now I have some extra parts that I bought for the 2001 Grand Vitara, if anyone would be interested in buying. These parts are very hard to get and are not cheap. However if anyone might be interested, I would make them a package deal for the lot. I have a rear drive shaft with universal joints attached, both front CV axle shafts, and 1 right front wheel bearing assembly. If anyone is interested answer this thread so we can make a deal. These are not broken parts. They were bought to find out what was causing a vibration. Once we found the cause, I didn't need them. I would like to get about $300.00 for the parts. Plus shipping.
Thanks All
Not saying your but "Some" Suzuki gear sets are loud. Try some Royal Purple Gear oil in the diff. Has solved some rear end/front end noise issues in the past. Also pull your abs sensors if you have them on the rear axle and look for rust. If so moisture may have entered the wheel bearings and taken them out.
When you say wheel bearing assembly what all is there? Is it hub with bearing, ABS tone ring, etc? Is it a NEW part or used? I'm looking for a new hub/bearing assembly for mine.
