Default suzuki xl7 o2 sensor

Can anyone tell me how to fit a universal 02 sensor on my 2001 xl7 I have been told you have to find out which wires are which then crimp them

well i tried to do it on my 99 grand vitara and i gave up on it, i went to the mechanic and we had so many issues taking it off due to the aged metal and the rust formed around it, it came to the point where we had to actually cut the old one out by force and than re-tap the hole so that the new sensor would go in...other than that yea all you have to do is crimp the wires together but its better to sodder the wires together. they actually should be pretty obvious which ones which since it mached my wires perfectly. so if you cant take the old one out, leave it alone and get it done professionally. also make sure that youre working on the right one because on the front end there are one on each side before and afer the catalyc converter (total of 4), i almost unscrewed the wrong o2 sensor lol

you need the correct o2 sensor removal socket too. you will need a straight shot at the sensor to swing the wrench.. If you have both of these go for it.. Like sanco said the wires should be self explanitory..

ALSO!!!! make sure yours is trully faulty, sometimes the wires on the original are just cut from the road debree, so you might be able to just re-sodder the wires. and yea the removal socket would help you a wwwhhoooolleee crap load, but as in my case we had to weld it out because that thing would not budge, so be carefull, if you really see that its not going anywhere take it to a chop or you will bend your exaust.

Read through this old thread and the link in the 2nd post. That should help you in ID'ing and removing your old sensor.

http://www.suzuki-forums.com/suzuki-...n-sensors.html

As far as generic / splice-in sensors...wired like stated above. They look similar and replace the existing sensors, you just don't get the full length wire and end plug with em'.

Here are some prices and pics (click on "more info").

Here is athe perfect "How To" for installing those replacements, INCLUDING the wiring colors info.

Default Replacing O2 sensor

1) Make sure than the muffler is hot, that way the muffler steel is expanded slightly relative to the O2 sensor. 2) Then, use an O2 socket tool. 3) I extended my ratchet handle to 3 ft long using an old pipe. When I extended the leverage, the sensor came unscrewed easily.
