Guipo is on a distinguished road
Default Hello my fellow Vitarians

I already said hi in the new users forums, but now I have questions. I'm actually getting my XL7 tommorrow and wanted to see how your general user experiances are with the SUV.

My biggest question is economy. What are people with similar models getting with it comes to the MPG. I'm selling my little economy car and moving up to the XL7, so i'll be going from about 25mpg to what.

Also, I do all my own maintenance, and this XL7 has 87000 miles. Is there anything I should expect to be doing in terms of work on it.

Any other experiences or thoughts to share with me would be appreciated. Thank you!

Guipo

with my 02, I get 23 on the ighway and 17 in the city. at 87k miles look close at the chain tensioner and diff fluids.. If the fluids were NOT changed at 7500 miles your diffs could be on their way out by then

no but they did put in really thin break in fluid that has to be changed according to the owners manual at 7500 miles or premature failure could (and does) occur.

I got it in, I'll check the diff oil.

only problem is the AC dosent work! DOH!

I suspect a leak as it started out cold and got warmer as the day goes on. Does the system have a common leak point?

YAY! it just needed r-134.

So need to check the diff fluid, change the oil, get the front end aligned, get it smogged, replace the rear gate handle, get a extra remote for it.

Oooo, that leads to my next question. my box for the remote says programmable controller. Does that mean I can program a remote like a 2003? Or am I just out of luck.

Guipo- if you had to add 134 you have a leak. Its a closed system and should not ever leak any under any conditions. You will be filling it again (maybe sooner then you think)Try to have someone put in dye and try to find the leak.

The 02 door lock fob is NOT programmable, sorry

I must of been mistaken then. I thought if the box had been upgraded to a upgradable controller it would let you. Darn it.

So 300 bucks is the only way to get more than one remote I assume then. greeeeeaaat.....

The R-134 has some type of sealant, and I know thats probadly not that good, If it has a little leak I hope it seals it. If not, I'll go get some of the dye and a black light. Very CSI.

yay! I was able to program a remote off of ebay. I guess if you have a programmable controller, it does work, even with a 2002.

Good to know...I bet that makes it a bit easier for some people who are having remote problems.
