Question Tech Pkg Question

I recently puchased a 2012 SX4 Crossover that included the tech package. I was under the assumption that the 'Smartkey" was included. I saw that one of the SX4 Crossovers in the showroom had a button ON the drivers door handle. In addition to the lock/open the door with the FOB in your possession alllyou need to do is perss the button on the door.
My car has keyless entry but no door button and you have to start it with the key. The one in the showroom needed no key to start it. My car has the fog lamps, heated seats, floor mats, Garmin GPS on top of dash and bluetooth but no keyless start. My salesman shrugged his shoulders-he is very good at that and is an exceptionally good liar.
Please advise.

Mine is a 2011 with Tech Package. and came without the Smartkey, just the keyless entry. In my case, didn't really wanted that feature. If the salesperson promised you one he should've granted it with a dealer installed one (given you a IOU). Not sure how much trouble would have been for the dealer to install it.
Wasn't the Smartkey available for the older models only though?

It was a 2013 in the showroom. I agree. I am not a smartkey fan either. Someone a few moments ago told me that the smart key was in a Touring Pkg. Never heard of it. If you look closely at a 2012 brochure you will see the button on the drivers door of a blue sx4 crossover.
i was curious. Thanks for your reply.

I have a USA market 2011 Crossover and paid attention to that feature when I bought my car (which does not have Smartpass). In 2010 the Smartpass came standard on some SX4 models and was optional on other models. In 2011 it was available only on the Sport Sedan model, not the Crossover. In 2012 and 2013 I believe it was not available on any USA SX4 models. I'm just going by their brochures and did not look at 2012 and 2013 models personally so I may be mistaken, nor am I familiar with Smartpass on earlier model years or other markets than USA.

The button on the door, or intelligent access was available in older models (08,09) but dropped as an option for 2012. They brought it back in 2013 because of the high demand for it. Unfortunately it is not an option on your 2012 SX4.

Would this be an impractical retrofit into 2012 Crossover Techs?
