Radio upgrade

I want to upgrade my sound system. Any reasonable ideas? I want to keep the factory tuner so steering wheel controls work. 2012 SX4 prem/tech package.

That looks like a pretty nice factory solution, and for $350 shipped to the US, not a bad price.

If you're looking for something aftermarket (i.e. willing to trade off OEM appearance for better features and functionality), you really can't go wrong ordering from Crutchfield. Their website will tell you all accessories needed including dash trims, install kits, steering wheel integration, etc. And the stuff generally ships with very thorough install guides.

Crutchfield is reputable and I have delt with them before. I simply dont have the skills to install amps and speakers. Some of my friends would try to help but electronics are more complicated today. At local Stereo Store I priced 6 speakers (two additional speakers in rear area in ugly boxes) an amp and labor was $900.00.

$900 for wiring an amp and two speaker boxes!? Wow...

But, to be honest, as long as you select speakers that fit properly (correct depth and everything), the hardest part of installation is simply getting the door panels off and back on again. The factory wiring is going to be just fine if you're not planning to go crazy, and a decent aftermarket head unit will have plenty of power to drive upgraded speakers.

Then again, maybe you should spell out your goals a little more clearly. From your original post it sounded like you just wanted a replacement head unit...

Thanks for the reply. I want to keep the factory unit so i can use the steering wheel controls and my has the tech pkg with the bluetooth and gps.
900 was for 6 new speakers an amp and install. Too much $ for me. I was thinking about 500 for the job since i saw the Kicker speakers at Walmart
