I know alot of people will have a problem with me saying this but think of it from there point of view. you can say o ya i change my oil every 4k miles when you really dont and have no way to prove that you do. Grant you to some diy'ers this isn't fair but it also isn't fair for a hurting car company to keep replacing engines due to customer error.

I would think, but admittedly I'm not an expert, that the Magnussun/Moss act, (federal law), would kick in here.
If a company REQUIRES you to do or use a certain item(s) or services to keep the warranty in effect, then they have to supply it free of charge.
I know for a fact, (being in the oil sales business for 20 some years), this would be true in the case of the motor oil. If the manufacturer says you have to use this brand of oil, then they have to supply that oil free of charge as long as the warranty is in effect.
