Default Disabling the passenger airbag

Hi guys,

First post :-)

Bought my SX4 in march, been extremly happy with it. Using it mainly to transport myself and my small family around between home, work and family in Denmark.

Just completed a nice 4.500 km road-trip around europe. The car handles extremly well, and it was a real pleasure driving even the long streches .. Btw, gotta love the autobahn! Ramped it up to 180 km/h before the misses starting yelling (it actually felt like it had more to give!).

Anyway, here is my question: how can you disable the passenger airbag?

I can't seem to find anything in the manual - any ideas?

The model is a SX4 1.6 GL-J (Crossover)

Thanks, a.

U.S models have the passenger airbag off by default till someone over a certain weight sits in the seat. Does yours not have the airbag off light on the dash?

Nope. The airbag indicator lamp blinks a couple of times on ignition, then turns off.

it disables itself automatically, if someone is in the seat that is under a certain weight, therefore making it more likely that the airbag can kill them if deployed. so if they meet a certain weight, then it arms itself. if the seat is empty it is still active too.
