Default Tires and Rims

81 miles on 09 SX4 crossover (black) - touring pkg.
Looking to upgrade tires and rims to something larger
went to wheelmax.com to look at packages.
anything special i need to know about sizing?
17X7 rims and 215/50/17 tires will fit OK?
looking for something that can handle lots of dirt roads so looking for a little wide and a little taller. . .
thanks

Is it a good idea to go lower profile on dirt roads?

nope, that would be a negative. you want something that will give you a little cushion.

Default Off road and 16" rims

I live off-road, and also deal with some nasty potholes, deep snow, and very cold temps (-25 F). I would highly recommend sticking with 16" rims. The car still handle PDG without going to 17". Plus you keep your unsprung wieght down, and tire costs. I went with Rota Slipstreams (flat black) because the were $89 a peice on sale, and 14.5 lbs. Over the stock rims, they make a big difference in acceleration (mpg) and braking.
