Yeah, that does seem pretty expensive. Then I'd be up to $80+ just to use and charge my iphone in an awkward and expensive way.
I think I'd rather have a McCabe Aux cable myself. Wanna make me one Tim?

SchumieFan - yeah, that's the one I got. It's not tough to install, just plug it in. You don't need a small child to thread the cable. Maybe just a skinny friend.

Hello,
I just picked up my brand new 09 sx4 and the dealer installed the ipod cabel. I found how i can find the playlists (hitting the 5 button i thin) but i can't seem to actually get the radio to play the list i want it to play. Does anyone know how I can actually get it to select the playlist I want to listen to instead of having it play the first playlist on the ipod?

Cheers,

Default iPod integration

The single connector is great, but one can only have full access to playlists through or with the full the integration kit. Using just the cable, bypasses the integration of playlist functions. I manually choose playlists with the iPod itself; goal this year is to purchase the integration unit and install for full functional operation.

Cheers,
button 1 selects all your music on your ipod

you will need to create upto 5 playlists named clarion1 clarion2 clarion3 clarion4 clarion5

then the stereo will recognise your playlists

clarion1 will be button 2 (as button 1 is all your ipod music) clarion2 will be button 3 etc etc etc

Schumiefan,

That is only for the old EA125 clarion adaptor, the new CCA-iPod (only works on 2008 and newer radios) will do playlist, artist, album, song..
You do not need to make just 6 Clarion playlists. Here are the intructions for using the CCA

Cheers,

Tim

Default CLCR19 - doesn't support playlists?

Thanks for all the info on here about how to get an iPod (or in my case iTouch) operating in the SX4. Especially to Tim. Lots of very helpful information.

I've tried all the little tips about how to set up the radio but am not getting anywhere. I admit to being a bit of a technophobe, so I may have missed something important.

My case:

Country: Australia
Car: Suzuki SX4 2009
Radio: Clarion CLCR19
Manual: States 'This unit does not have a play list function'

Tim - I followed your instructions above on how to use Playlists via the radio, but pressing 5 (D) didn't do anything. I guess the comment in the manual stating that playlists are not supported would explain why.

Questions:

1. Have I missed something above, and am just being a silly billy?

2. If so, how do I set up the 6 play lists that will be recognised by the radio?

3. If not, and I'm not happy with the current state of play, it seems I have two options?

a) buy Tim's cable, or one like it
b) buy a CCAIpod adapter (but I don't understand whether this will allow me to use playlists via the radio, given that they're not supported). Can't find the details where 'srv' states it works as previously described.
