hi,
I own a 2008 SX4 (not 4wd version)
this might seem a bit silly to some of you suzuki owners but
I find Suzuki's engine set up pretty interesting...I cannot for the life of me
find where power steering fluid goes!?
I've had my bf and his father look all over ( have alot of car knowledge rebuilds old cars and
knows abit about modern cars)
also ask my brother...no one can find the thing!

somebody please put me out of my misery! explain where! it can't not
have power steering its too easy to drive!!

sincerely, possible stupid question asker.

On the USA version it is the white opaque 6" tall cylinder about 4" round with a red plastic 1" round cap mounted on the passenger side shock tower area on a slide on/off bracket with 2 black rubber hoses running to it. I change the fluid on a regular basis (every other oil change or so) as it gets dark brown very quickly and will start to make noise otherwise.

I had a really great picture of the Power Steering reservoir, but time has taken its toll and that pic seems to have slipped away.

So here's the next best pic I have of that reservoir taken while I was doing an oil change.

Like the man said....it's a white canister with a little red cap on it. It's just to the left of the big RED funnel in this picture.

Soon after I bought my 2009 SX4, AWD, I joined this forum and read where guys were having problems with both the AT fluid and power steering fluid getting HOT and scorching. Then for weeks the discussion went on and on about the best way to change the fluid. I thought it was better to treat the cause of the problem than the result of the problem. Less mess and a whole lot cheaper. Eh?

For many years and several different cars, I had used "Prolong Transmission Additive" in my AT's. So I bought a bottle and put about 80% of it in the AT and the rest in the Power Steering tank. That was even before my first oil change.

In 40,000 miles (till I traded off my SX4) my transmission fluid and power steering fluid stayed just like new.....no overheating and NO scorching.

I also used the "Prolong Anti-Friction Additive" in my engine. So the entire engine and AT ran smoother, cooler and performed like new to the day I traded off the car.

This is not an Ad for Prolong products, but I'm just saying that it worked for me, so that neither my AT or power steering fluid overheated or scorched.

Good Luck!

You need to enter your location to get proper information. In the north American (and maybe some others) market, with the 2.0 L engine, the power steering is hydraulic with a pump and reservoir. In some other markets like Europe some SX4s have electric power steering (I presume to save power with the smaller engines?) so would NOT have a reservoir!-------http://www.ebay.com/itm/Suzuki-Sx4-Electric-Power-Steering-Rack-48580-54L10-RHD-/110985985012

"not set that way" ???

Are you sure you're driving an SX4? And yes, in what country???

The engine is set the same way in all Front Wheel Drive Cars.

I do have Electronic Steering on my new car, but it's not an SX4.
I much prefer it, actually.

Please fill out your Control Panel so we know where you are and just what you're driving.

If I translate that correctly, , , New South Wales, Au. Right?

Still what car are you driving, what engine?
I know there are a lot of Diesels in countries outside the US.
We literally have NO experience with Suzuki Diesels here. Sorry!

Well, I've shown you where mine is, as is all US cars.

Since you're not in the US and not driving a US car, who knows?

Can't you phone a Suzuki dealer and ask them???

That's what I do when I'm befuddled about something on my car.
I can have my answer much faster than posting to a forum. Eh?

Good Luck,
Shadow

Ok, someday, when you have time, GO to your dealer and ask to speak with the Service manager. Make friends with him!

He can be your best resource whenever you have questions or problems.

I have my own Service manager (Paul) on Speed Dial and I have two email addresses for him, his business address and his personal address.

Every time I'm at the dealership (about once a month) I always make sure I see him and renew our acquaintance. Likewise my guys in the Service Parts Dept.
Both are named 'Pete' so I call them Peat and Repeat.:lol::lol:

My Salesman (John) always recognizes me at once! I scared the crap out of him during my 10 minute test drive.

There is just NO substitute for making friends of the guys that your car depends on.

Cheers Mate!
