I am interested in an aluminum timing belt cover if you can get them. I will also help pass on the word if you can make them available.

All plastic timing belt covers warp to the point that the cover comes in contact with the pullies. The eyelets also crack. The tollerances are too close for plastic. I have always wanted to make one out of aluminum but had no way of welding the sides of the cover to a flat sheet of aluminum. Casting might be the way to go. I have a brand new cover that I was about to put on my new motor that you could use for the casting. You can get aftermarket plastic covers for $25-$30. If you could get them made for $50, I know you could sell a bunch. Everyone complains about those covers.

Hey DJ, I hear you Loud & Clear on these covers !!! They are a Peice of Crap as far as I am Concerned!
Talking to My buddy Jim, He said to develope a good Mold for such a peice he would Need the New cover and to be sure every thing worked it would be Best to Have an old Block..I guess the Aluminum will shrink, when Cast, so Alignment world Be critical for it to fit correctly..Maybe If you could send the cover ,so He can see whats what with it as far as casting them... He is In La Grande ,OR. Let me Know what you think?? Thanks DJ, George

I have a block also, but I live in Tucson, Arizona. I just had a engine built by Reynolds machine in California and it cost me $85 to ship a long block there. If I pulled the head, it might be a little cheeper. You might try looking in your area for one. I am more than willing to send the cover. you can have the long block if you want to pay the shipping, it was a running motor when it was pulled from a samurai that was being parted.

I am am almost posative that it is NOT compatable. The 1.3 and the 1.6 are different also. I have a friend here intown that fixes samurais up for resale who would like aluminum covers for his customers. Maybe I can find a cracked block that the front of the block could be cut off. I will ask around.
