2000 1.3 LSI starts won't run

first off, i'm a moron.

i recently bought a 2000 LSI 1.3, with a 5x manual (Love the car) the headlights wouldn't work when i bought it, running lamps only. checked all the fuses all good, checked the relay, good. i went to apply power directly to the headlamp-out pin of the relay, and at that point still had the fuel pump relay out (same relay, i'd switched them to verify the headlamp relay was good) and being a moron, hit the control side of the fuel pump relay with straight 12volts. spark, pop, CRAP. nothing, wouldn't crank, no dash or indicator lights. checked all the fuses, i'd blown a couple. replaced them, now the car cranks, starts, but won't stay running. i'm scared that i damaged the ECU. anyone have any advice or thoughts?

also, it runs the battery down overnight now, if i leave it connected.

i reset the computer, it now starts and runs (albeit poorly)
the check engine light is on. i'm taking it to a local mechanic who has a code reader for it.
