Question 95 Geo Metro won't start

Hi I'm new to this web site. I have a USA 1995 Geo Metro 1.0, 3 cyl, 5 speed manual, 2 WD will not turn over. In the on position it has battery and oil pressure symbol very dim. No check eng light. At first eng relay clicked and fuel pump would work, now nothing. Removed starter checked ok. Took altenator out of system. no help. Removed all relays and fuses out of system and battery symbol stays dim. checked start wiring, clutch switch ck good. Seems to be in the on position that draws the short. Removed eveything in the wire diagram that was connected to the on and start schematic and still no luck. Replaced the batttery , ECM , and ignition switch and still have the same problem. Thanks for any suggestions?

You didn't say condition of battery. Should be 12.6 v at rest, approx. 11v when trying to start, and approx 14.5v when charging.

Thanks for the response. Never could get car to start. Battery is new and topped off with battery charger. Before the car quit on me I had no issues with charging. Put old battery in another vehicle and it is working ok. Still scratching my head.

I had a similiar problem with a geo tracker. The ground bonding lug and connection between the starter & solenoid needed cleaning (after apply dielectric grease). After that no problem. You may want to do a voltage drop test at various points of connection both positive and ground. Also, check to make sure when the igniton switch is turned on power is getting to the starter at the spade-type connector. Good luck

Is your problem low voltage or high current draw? The fix for those problems are different from each other and require different methods to resolve. A volt meter with a high ampere capacity will be handy to have to fix whatever your problem is. Post back with more accurate info and I'll chip in my 2 cents worth.

Will the engine turn over manuaally with a 17MM socket on the crank bolt?
