Default Seafoam Question.

I have a question about seafoam. When you add it to the oil,is it ok to leave it in there? Or should the oil be changed after so many miles. My concern is, that I have heard that seafoam when added to the oil thins the oil.And using 5W30 as it is,is it safe to leave it in the crankcase. Thanks.............

I add Seafoam to the oil, gas, and throttle body. When adding to the oil (1/3 of the can) I add it 500 miles or one tankful of gas before the oil change is due. Seafoam will not thin the oil much nor will it hurt it. I run 5W20 in my Metro and some guys run 0W20 oil.

More info on Seafoam here.........

my experience with old or neglected engines is if i use seafoam on the oil run it for a couple of days and then drain and remove the crankcase and clean it.The reason is seafoam and some other cleaners remove the sludge and it end up in the crankcase and not everything goes away when you change the oil.Is time consuming but better be safe than sorry.

I just did that to my recently adquired sidekick and i wish you could see all the sludge that came out ,sure was a pain in the ass to remove that crankcase but in my opinion worth it.
