I had the same problem with my Geo. I found a loose wire at the fuse box. But until I found that and fixed it I attached a wire to the plug in the back of the headlight and when driving at night hooked that wire to ground on the body. The headlights are hot all of the time. You can unplug the headlight and slip a wire into the low beam when you replug the head light. May not be a recommened method, but it worked until I found the problem.

those light switches rarely fail. Take a close look at your fuse box. You will find a melted connector on one of the plugs facing down towards the floor. I generally replace the burnt terminal with a used one, but you might be able to clean it up and get it working again.

The failure was in the light switch shaft. The point where it goes into the switch is broken in the switch end. I did locate one in the junkyard off of a 93 swift and it is on now and working. This will give me a chance to look into possibly fixing the old one. I like that kinda fun.

Was only 20 bucks for me to pull it. Not bad considering what they cost on E-bay plus shipping.
