Default Strange headlight issues

I don't have a manual so I don't know whether this is normal or not.

A '97 Metro, I did change out my headlights, swapped for a conversion kit, and got the Silverstar Ultra 9003/H4 bulbs, however the problem remains.

Weak output while using low beams, during the day I have to drive with the light switch in the light position, so the lights won't be on, since the off position makes them stay on.

Yes I had to splice in new wires for the new bulbs, but the problem existed already before.

Any ideas ? Relay problems ? Headlight switch problems ?

I have heard of these cars having wiring problems down at the fuesebox where the headlamp circuit goes. You should be able to see melted connections there if you look.

ok I'll do that

I was thinking maybe fuses or relays ... maybe bad splicing or wrong splicing .. but I made sure I spliced into the correct wires .. and fact remains the problem existed already before the head light swap

are you sure you wired the new plugs right? I too just did a conversion from my haligons to white lights. also had to change the plug. my dims were very dim re checked all the wiring and found it wired wrong. my wires were rb, rw, and wr. the wr is the ground, and rb was high and rw was dims. mine is a 94. fixed and the lights run great.

It's mostly the 95 that has a light problem. In 95 the fuse box might have to be replaced but that's around 180-240 k miles and it's easy to spot. The headlights don’t work...
Easy fix if you can find the boxes but they are getting scarce.

Have never heard of this on a 97.
I'd check your wiring, the stuff you did, especially the grounds.
