Exclamation I got a gas Smell While Driving

i just got a 1995 Geo metro Lsi, 3cyl, 5 spd., and car has sat for awhile, and i have been working on it, and I'm getting a gas smell at idle, and also when I'm driving, my gas millage is vary poor for the car, I'm not leaking anything or smoking, car is suppose to be getting around 50mpg., and I'm getting around 12-15mpg if I'm lucky, i was told that the car calls for 2 o2 senors, i only have one right of the manifold. please let me know what i can do?? thanks'

First off, do you have a check engine light on? If so, jump the diagnostic jumper in the fuse box and get the flash codes so we can help.

Hey I just had a bad gas smell like you and my MPG went from 50 to 25 look under the car while running left rear where the gas filter is just in front of left rear wheel. mine was leaking out of one of the hoses if not there follow the lines all the way up and look for a leak. fixed wiht new hose and mpg back at 50.

I think the 1995 has no external fuel filter like my 1998 model. The code 1-2 means all systems normal. This tells me you may actually have a fuel leak you cannot see like a bad fuel injector flooding the engine.

thanks for the codes, i haven't checked for a leak on my tank or lines yet, ran out of light but about the injector, it does seem like its spiting alot of fuel into the TB at idle, like people say at autozone said, kinda looks like a toylet'', the flow of gas?, but if i was getting to much gas at the TB' wouln't i be smoking?

It will not really cause smoke, but maybe some black soot. Can you smell gas from the tailpipe?

I also suspect that all this raw fuel may have also contaminated the cat converter and hopefully, it's OK.
