Ahhh! The "Joys"! Sure wish I could send some of this rain to the fire & drought ravaged regions. We had our share of drought & fires this spring, but ever since the rains began its been tropical! Over the last 6 weeks there MIGHT have been 6 days when it did not rain. Those 1st 4 weeks totalled more than 20" of rain, lost track, but got to be working on 30" by now. Its frustrating for this night owl, burning the candle at both ends & trying to take siestas during the hot/thunderstorms-that are supposed to come in the afternoon. Got run off before 11 AM today & got little accomplished on the Metro.
Its now on the ground, but I'm still dealing w/dangerous spiders. Found the biggest nastiest Black widow I've ever seen under a wheel cover I had to remove to air up a tire! It had a big nest I destroyed. Also found 2 more Brown widows tending nests! I rushed ahead of the storm to put a battery in & try to turn it over to see what it sounded like. Was going to check compression, plugs look excellent. Unfortunately the battery from my backup riding mower appears to be dead as a door nail! I got soaked coming in from the shop after hooking it up to charge. Just have to wait.
Noticed another oddity related to the nearly 300K. The rear Uniroyal 'Tigerpaw' tires are dated 2000? Am curious what brands/models of tires were on new base 2000 Chevy Metros? Got the feeling they're the originals, will look very closely to see if I can find any signs of old balancing weight scars on the wheels. I know rear tires can last a long time, its not possible they'd go 286K & still have respectible tread-is it?
