93 Metro fail Emmisons test

We are requiered in my part of Idaho to take our cars through a yearly emmisions test. Well the Metro failed. I am going to do a standard tune up today. But I do not have a manual and am having trouble finding one locally. Can anyone tell me were I need to set the timming on this little beast?

Is the check engine light on? I would try and get it tested when the engine is warm.

Did they tell you what was to high? NOX? CO? hydrocarbons?
