Cool Need New Suspension - Where to get?

My 1993 Geo is all original with 75,000 miles on it - runs like a champ. However it handles like a soggy sponge. I don't expect miracles, however I do expect it to provide some utility. The fact that it's another hatchback in my collection of cars means it's going to have to haul stuff, and this one isn't hauling it's fair share yet. The suspension is sagged and if there is any more weight than a driver the rear bottoms out on the simplest of bumps and "jumps." I'd like to find a set of Bilstein HD's for or - even Sports or Touring, but nobody seems to carry such for these cars from what I see. The Best I can find are KYB GR-2's from Tire rack for about $195 shipped for all 4 corners which isn't bad - but I'm not a huge fan of GR-2 parts.... good for about 2 years sure, but after that it's like worn out stocks...

Anyone have some tips or secrets of what works for a fair price - I am by no means looking to lower this car - if anything, raise the rear of it up more.

Also - sway bars would be nice - what fits? lol I can modify if needed.

Thanks in advance!

i dont think there are many websites that have aftermarket parts for geo metros. however the suspension sag can probably solved with stock replacement springs. if you are looking to replace struts, it would be advisable to purchase quick struts. these both can be found at the local parts store. the sag is probably years of hauling around large ladies...

no idea what "quick shocks" are - but I think I am going to just buy some GR-2 KYB's - the rear isn't saagged unless you put something back there.... And it doesnt take much at all to have it on it's bump stops. I wish they had a wagon spring for the rear, but the 5 doors used the same springs as the 3 doors.

"QuickStruts" are complete (drop-in) strut assemblies that include springs and all hardware already assembled. No need to use a death compressor with QuickStruts.

Ahh - well being as I work at a GM dealership I think I can manage the installation - however to humor this complete setup idea- who exactly for fact carries them - and ballpark $$ for a full setup? Less than $195 shipped? (GR-2)

i put 96 sway bars on my 90 metro they bolt on in existing bolt holes on the front on the back they bolt to the lower control arm but you have to drill and reinforce the spare wheel well and spacer it down for clearance reasons and ya they make a big diffrence i pulled mine from the wrecking yard where i work if you get some make sure you or they keep all the bolts

...good tip on the Sway Bars ...Shocks "new" are often available on eBay ...Springs are another matter ...never see them "new". Anyone know of stiffer Rear Springs from other vehicles that will fit our cars?
